Breast Cancer Awareness Month

HCE Medical Group Supports Breast Cancer Awareness

October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a worldwide annual campaign aimed at highlighting the importance of breast awareness, education and research. Throughout the month our group is aiming to raise awareness to the importance of breast cancer screening, latest research and treatments, to as many people as possible.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women, accounting for almost a third of new cancer cases in females. Cancer Research UK reports their latest statistics revealed that in 2010, there were 10,000 new cases diagnosed among women aged under the age of 50. Currently areas of London have been shown to have below average screening rates. Now is the perfect time to get yourself booked in for a screening.

Additionally, self checking is as important as ever. Early signs of breast cancer can include a change in size or shape of your breasts, a change in the skin such as dimpling or puckering, any changes in a nipple or discharge, persistent pain and lumpy areas or thickening of tissues. If any of these symptoms do present themselves there’s no need to panic. The pain can be a sign of a cyst or the lump can be benign (harmless). It’s always better to be sure though.

We are highlighting our BREAST-i™, scientifically proven, breast self-examination device. Utilising patented light technology developed on scientific research and studies by UK scientists. Most women know to check for breast lumps that are out of the ordinary but there are other changes which our device can help to spot. For more information see the BREAST-i™ website.

Recent statistics have shown that cancer survival rates are at a record high in the UK. We believe the breast awareness month campaigns, breast cancer charities and preventative measures have played an important part in this and are using our group and companies to highlight worldwide!

Let’s beat cancer!
